Nurse Clinic |
Some issues may not require a practitioner visit. Patient education handouts, brochures and pamphlets on a variety of health topics are available to patients free of charge. In addition, our Nurse Clinic offers the following to students:
Immunizations
Immunizations to prevent disease outbreaks are offered at Student Health, including vaccines against polio, diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and chickenpox. Meningococcal vaccine is available and is especially recommended for students residing in residences halls. The flu vaccine is offered every Fall by appointment, or by walk-in during the Flu Vaccine Clinic.
Tuberculosis Screening
Student Health encourages screening for tuberculosis among students and campus employees, with a simple and inexpensive test called PPD or a chest xray, or a TB antigen blood test. Students residing in housing and participating in athletics are particularly urged to be screened for tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is highly contagious; it is possible to both contract and spread tuberculosis without being aware that you have done so.
Travel Consultations
The Nurse Clinic can also assist you with your travel health needs, including most travel immunizations, malaria preventive medications, other travel-related prescription drugs, and advice on travel safety.
